Sunny Challenges Week 35

 Hi there! After quite a while of not being in here due to family commitments....I'm back!!!! Hopefully I will be able to at least post each week and continue working with Kris and Vicky at Sunny Challenges and Creations. I must firstly thank the girls for carrying the load while I have not been able to work on the Challenges with them. Not forgetting too the Guest designers that have stepped into the breech on short notice to help out , and a big thank you goes to all those ladies. I will never forget your kindness and your friendship is something that I will always value and cherish. I am so excited that I am able to partake in the challenge this week which was supplied by Vicky. She always makes me put my thinking cap on! The challenge this week had to have something to do with 'mums' on it and as Mothers day is fast approaching it is a particularly good choice of theme. I started with a plain white background and cut a piece of Flirtatious DSP and having the Wisteria Wonder colour and pattern on top. I stamped two flowers from the Fifth Avenue Floral and coloured them using my Aqua Painter and Wisteria Wonder again. The word Mother came from the set Blessed Mother that I won at Regional's and havent really used that much. I cut the flowers out and placed them on the Whisper White card stock, which I had backed wiht a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock. I then went fossicking around in my another day box and found some Little Leaves that I had cut out on my Big Shot some time before when I was using up scraps. I decided to use the Wisteria Wonder again for the band at the bottom which I punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. I stamped the word Love from the Tiny Tags stamp set and punched it out using the Small Jewelry Tag Punch, and attached that to the Wisteria Wonder using a Fire Square Rhinestone Brad. On the inside of the card I used the sentiment from Blessed Mother and then off stamped the flower from the Fifth Avenue Floral several times using Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade. I had fun making this card for the challenge and look forward to many more.

Spongeing and watercolour paper

The other day I made this lovely card of which I was inspried by Beverly Pollen. Beverly lives on the Coast in the USA and quite a bit of her work comes about from inspiration she gets from her surroundings. Last week was no different, she came up with a beautiful creation using sponging and  the effects were beautiful. I 'cased' her card to a degree, but then added my own twist to it and this is the result. It was so quick and easy to do I couldnt believe how quick. I added the boat and the sun and clouds to my card just to add a bit of interest. Hope you like it as much as I do, Please let me know what you think. Bye for now

Another Telescopic Card, made by a Special Person

My grandson really loved the card I made for my friend for her birthday and said he would like to make one for his dad. Of course who am I to deny this request, so this morning we sat and made telescopic cards together. (I am certainly getting plenty of practice using the Circle Scissors Plus) Young Matthew was really taken with the Owl Punch and really wanted to use it on his card as well as the beer glass from Cheers to You stamp set. The sentiment was from Fifth Avenue Floral. All in all he used a mixture of  stamp sets and punches, but he  had a wonderful time making his card and it was all done with minimal help from his Nan. I was so proud of him for sitting there and keeping on with his project. He gave the card to his dad and it was lovely to see how pleased and happy he was to be given this special card from his son, Maybe I have another member of the family that is interested in Stampin' Up! In the words of his older brother and cousin. "This card is way sik". I found out that "way sik" is so much better than "sik", which really means its awesome!. Well I think he is an awesome young man for making this for his dad. Till next time bye for now....

Wet on Wet Watercolour

Oh no! I can hear you say! Not more watercolours so soon. Promise this will be the last one for a couple of weeks (unless you ask for more hehehe). As the subject states this is watercolour and the technique is called wet on wet in artists terms. This type of technique is best done with an open type image.

Firstly I have done a Rich Razzleberry wash, done simply by wetting the watercolour paper by running the Aqua Brush over it, and then picking up the Rich Razzleberry from the lid of the pad. .Istamped the main image using the Classic Stampin' pad in the same ink whilst it is still wet to purposely make the image 'bleed' You will notice also that the image is of a vibrant hue, and  will make this image stand out from any others that are stamped. I have then used Daffodil Delight for the stamens, and Pear Pizzaz for the stalks. I also used a scrap of Pear Pizazz cardstock to punch out some foliage using the 2 Step Bird Punch.

You need to wait for the  watercolour paper to be thoroughly dry before you stamp the other images using a mask, noticing that because the paper is dry the edges have not bled, and the outline is finer. This allows the central image to stand out. Use  a blender pen to darken the centre of the flowers , and the stamens in the same colours as the main image. I finished the card off by adding a Pear Pizazz bow and a small black butterfly. This is such an easy technique and you will be amazed at what you will achieve when you do yourself.
