Another Marina Mist Creation

This week on Sunny Challenges and Creations we had to use Marina Mist and place any shape on the card front. I thought that I would do another card for the challenge (what so soon?) because I really started to get into the swing of Marina Mist!My base was of Sahara Sand, and I then 'wheeled' a strip of Marina Mist and Very Vanilla Card stock with the Jumbo Wheel Friendly Words. I added a length of the Chantilly Crochet Trim across the centre and attached a flower that I made by punching out 3 Fancy Flower Shapes, and 2 of the small leaves from the Sizzix Die Island Floral. I distressed all the shapes and seperated them before assembling them. I used a small yellow button from the Icecream Parlour Button collection and tied it off with Hemp twine. The sentiment is from the age old favourite Sincere Salutations , which I stamped off in Black and punched out using the decorative label punch. Sunny Challenges Week 5

 

Hi there! This week on Sunny challenges and Creations our very talented Kris is the creator of the sketch. The only stipulations for the challenge were that 1. Marina Mist had to be used whether it was ink, carstock or ribbon and the other was that a shape (any shape) be placed on the left hand side of the card. This was harder than you would think! Now I am the proud owner of quite a few stamp sets, but do you think I could choose a set to use for this colour. Now if I had been given a stamp set to use then it would not have been a problem, so I dont know how to figure that out! I used Crumb Cake for the base of the card and on the front the lower half of the card was Marina Mist and the top half was Very Vanilla. I stamped the daisy from the set Every Moment, first making a mask so I could overstamp and have flowers where I wanted them. I then coloured these using Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Soft Suede Classic Stampin Ink pads and my trusty blender pen. The base I left unadorned except for the sentiment and that was stamped directly onto the cardstock. Using the Big Shot I cut two scallop squares one in Night of Navy and the other in Very Vanilla. On the piece of Very Vanilla I stamped the bird from that set then coloured it using my blender pens and the ink pads as before. I then mounted this onto the main pieces of cardstock for the front of the card. I placed a piece of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon around the centre and tied a know to one side and the card was finished. For the inside, I used the lace edge punch on the top of the Marina Mist card stock and then attached it to a strip of Very Vanilla for the recipients name. Iris's

 I love Iris's and they always remind me of my nan's garden when I was a child, and then of my own garden in the Central West of NSW. We had huge frosts and the climate was perfect for bulbs of all sorts, and every winter I had a brilliant show of Iris's, Daffodils, John Quills, and any other winter bulb you could imagine. My front garden was an absolute riot of colour and I used to love nothing more than to sit on the front patio and admire them. On Monday a good friend bought me some Iris's to cheer me up as I had not been well and here it is the end of the week and they are still going strong. I couldnt resist taking a pic of them to share with you. There is nothing like fresh flowers to bring the great outdoors in and they certainly do cheer you up!

Using up some retired stock

 

Because the weather has been so wintry and I have virtually been housebound I thought that I would make some more cards for our local nursing home. They are always in need of Birthday, Easter, Christmas, Sympathy, Mothers and Fathers Day cards for their residents. I make a box full of cards over a couple of months plus others from my stash that I have had for a little while and take them to the diversional therapist, and when the 'ressies' need cards then they go through the appropriate box and choose what they like. I also donate 100 Christmas cards every year to go with their gifts from the DT's office. I love being able to do something for the oldies and they are all ever so happy to see you and eager for you to sit and listen to their stories.  What better way to use up retired stock, it is a sure fire way to put a big smile on so many faces. Welcoming Christmas into your heart.....

Today with the weather so so awful, I thought I would make another Christmas card that would fit the challenge on Sunny Challenges and Creations this week. This time I chose to use Garden Green for my card base, I topped that with Confetti Cream and the panels were cut from Holly Jolly DSP that I had on hand and is just about to retire. Using the Big Shot I cut a scallop oval in Garden Green and a medium oval in Confetti Cream which I ran through the Big Shot once again this time inside the Square Lattice embossing folder, because as you remember at least one embossing folder was to be used. The image I stamped twice in Garden Green and coloured the star yellow is from the soon to be retired Christmas Classics stamp set. One of the images I cut up in sections and layered it onto the bottom one with dimensionals just to give it a bit of a lift. The sentiment is from Heard from the Heart, and on the inside of the card on Very Vanilla Card stock I stamped the verse from Snow Swirled along with a snowflake in the top right hand corner.  The bow is Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon and the bow was placed in the centre of the top portion of the card to give it a 'bauble look'.It seems a bit sad to be saying goodbye to some of your favourite stamp sets, they are a little like comfy slippers really, they are always there when you wnat them. Nevermind on the 1st of September we will have a whole lot more new favourites that we will automatically reach for!

Brand New Challenge from Sunny Challenges and Creations

 Here we are into week 4 of  Sunny Challenges and Creations.  Kris Vicky and I hope you will play along with us this week. The challenge this week is to create a card using the sketch on the left, but you  must  use  at least one embossing folder, and the theme is Christmas. You can use any or even no stamp set, as long as the finished creation is of a Christmas theme. That gives everyone a really wide scope, to put forward some beautiful entries. For my card I used Real Red cardstock, which I ran through the Big Shot using the Framed Tulips embossing folder. I then cut panels from the Holly Jolly Designer Paper and topped that with some Whisper White that was also run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I had a scrap of Real Red cardstock on my desk and had punched out the Lace Border, so I put it on top of the Whisper White (which I know has covered the polka dots) and I really like the look of it. The stamp set I used was Contemp Christmas. The sentiment was stamped in Real Red and the tree was stamped onto a  white medium oval in Old Olive.I matted this onto an Old Olive small scallop oval (not SU). I think you will have a lot of fun playing with the sketch this week, so dont forget to go to Sunny Challenges and enter your creations. Last Fox and Friends Share

This is the last share that I have done for the Sunny Challenges and Creations Challenge for this week. I pulled out some Regal Rose cardstock, which I dont seem to use often enough, layered it with Whisper White which I had passed through the Big Shot using the Petals a Plenty embossing folder. I then matted some Whisper White onto another piece of Regal Rose and fed each corner into the Decorative Label Punch to make the corner shapes that I achieved here. A Strip of matching cardstock had a piece of white grossgrain ribbon across its length and attached to the main body of the card. The sentiment was stamped and the large oval punch was used to shape it. The fox was stamped in Regal Rose once again and placed on dimensionals. She is so cute, she looks like she is batting her eyes at any unsuspecting little boy fox! I have had fun using this set this week and hope that you have liked what I have done. Bye for now
