A little while ago I was asked to make a birthday card for a young man’s mum who lives in Sweden. He gave me a piece of patterned paper and asked that I use this on the card because it had all his mum’s favourite colours in it, and also it had to have flowers. When I looked at it I saw Tempting Turquoise, Brushed Gold, and Bashful Blue. I decided to use the Elements of Style stamp set and also the Four Frames. I made the card an A5 size, using a base of Bashful Blue, then matted it with Brushed Gold and Bashful Blue again. I stamped the image on Whisper White with Stazon because I was using my Aqua Painter to colour the image. The colours I used were Tempting Turquoise, Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and even a touch of Baja Breeze, Old Olive was used for the leaves and the stems. The Four Frames stamp I used and the sentiment from Sincere Salutations were all stamped using Stazon Ink as was the greeting on the inside of the card and the small portions of the main stamp. I punched the front sentiment out using the Decorative Label Punch, then punched it out again but this time in the Bushed Gold and layered them together. To finish the card off I used a strip of the paper that I was given to use and punched a decorative edge using the Eyelette Border Punch, then repeated the same but this time using Bashful Blue cardstock. He loved the card, and so did his mum, and I thought it turned out pretty well too.

Special Request

Double Fancy Folds
Today I would like to share with you a double fancy folds card that I designed. I attended a class by my very good friend, mentor and honourary upline Kris McIntsoh and as we were making the fancy fold card I thought that I could do a double, so I set to and designed one! They are so simple to do and once you get the scoring right the rest falls into place so easily. I used a combination of colours that I would not usually use for this card and I also used my Dazzling Diamonds whch has been sitting neglected for quite some time :) I thought they added a lift to the finished card. The colours I used were Peach Pizazz Parfait for the base which I stamped with the vine from Elements of Style using Peach Parfait, and the mats were Bashful Blue, Cajun Craze and Whisper White. I love the softness of the Elements of Style stamp set, stamped it onto the Whiaper White using Stazon as I wanted to colour the flowers. On the two side panels I used Perfect Plum for the main flowers and Peach Parfait for the smaller blossoms and Old Olive for the leaves. The sentiment was stamped using Cajun Craze and punched out with the large oval punch then backed onto a scallop oval in Cajun Craze. I finished it off with two bows with a rhinestone in the middle and attached them to the card on the outer panels using mini glue dots (how I love them things!!) I hope that you like this creation of mine and I would love to hear what you think. Bye for now, Gwen

Happy Birthday Joyce!
Wednesday was Joyce's birthday and I made this card for her. It is a case of sorts from Terri Brennan and Sandy Hancock. The original idea came from Terri and Sandy put the instructions up on her blog www.sandystamper.com, so thank you to both of these lovely ladies for sharing. I used Elements of Style as my stamp set. The card base I stamped with the flourish from this set in the same colour as the cardstock then I stamped the main floral image on the Whisper White Top Note, removed the oval, and then used the watercolour pencils and the aqua painter to colour the flowers and the leaves. Stamped the bird from the same set onto a piece of Pink Piroeute designer paper using Sahara Sand. Tied a piece of Pretty in Pink ribbon around one side to finish it off. I think it looks better in real life than the pic, but I hope you like it as much as I do. Let me know wht you think. Bye for now Gwen
